1. Eric Gray, Oklahoma (From Tennessee)
Gray excelled a season ago as Tennessee’s No. 1 back, rushing for 772 yards and four touchdowns on 4.9 yards per carry. He also caught 30 passes. Now imagine what he’ll do in a scheme that’s seen its lead back average six yards per carry or better every season of the Lincoln Riley era.
Eric Gray is poised for a stellar campaign along with Kennedy Brooks in the backfield. The two will make a lethal tandem. Brooks is the more powerful runner between the tackles, but Gray is the best pass-catcher of the group. He possesses outstanding burst and short-area quickness to elevate OU’s rushing attack. His skills were on display at the team’s spring exhibition game. Gray stuck his foot in the ground and made a guy miss for the touchdown. He became a key in the Vols’ offense and will strive for greatness with the Sooners.
