Emmanuel Moseley injury update: ‘It’s going to be a while’

Lions head coach Dan Campbell updated CB Emmanuel Moseley’s progress in returning from knee surgeries

Emmanuel Moseley remains sidelined from Detroit Lions practices. Head coach Dan Campbell didn’t offer any reason to believe the projectee starting cornerback will be ready for Week 1.

In his press conference before Monday’s practice, Campbell said of Moseley,

“It’s going to be a while.”

Moseley is recovering from a second knee surgery since tearing his ACL last October while playing for the San Francisco 49ers. Signed as a free agent this spring, Moseley remains on the Lions’ PUP list.

The 27-year-old was ahead of schedule early on, but Moseley suffered a setback that required an additional minor surgery. He is at practices but not participating or even doing light running on the side with trainers, as most players who are close to returning often do.

Campbell did not provide a timetable. Last week, Moseley offered some optimism that he would be ready for Week 1, but those hopes seem fleeting after Campbell’s latest update.
