The Oregon Ducks are expected to be aggressive when it comes to high-end defensive linemen in the transfer portal this offseason, and one of the best options might have just become available.
Former South Carolina Gamecocks’ DL Jordan Burch announced on Thursday he was entering the portal. A three-year starter in South Carolina, Burch is a former five-star recruit who was rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 overall player in the 2020 class.
If that weren’t intriguing enough on its own, consider that Burch had the Georgia Bulldogs as one of his top schools going into his commitment. Who was his primary recruiter with the Bulldogs? None other than current Oregon head coach Dan Lanning.
A relationship has obviously been established, and that could be enough to get Burch to come up to Eugene for the 2023 season and continue his career. Obviously, with a player as talented as this — Burch had 3.5 sacks in 2022 — a number of teams are going to be trying hard to land the big DL. We will see in the coming weeks if Lanning can convince Burch to fly to the Pacific Northwest for a visit.
