For the first time since 2008, Real Madrid earned a second consecutive La Liga win over Barcelona in the latest edition of El Clásico. Needing a victory to stay at the top of La Liga this weekend, Real Madrid took control of the game in the second half after a wild open that saw both teams score inside of 10 minutes.
Federico Valverde gave the visitors an early lead in the fifth minute, when he was picked out making an incisive run down the middle with a great pass from Karim Benzema. Valverde took one touch to carry the ball into the penalty area, and then blasted a shot past goalkeeper Neto.
