While Texas has been making noise on the offensive side of the ball via the transfer portal, they are not finding much success on the defensive side.
The only transfer that the Longhorns brought in on the defensive side of the ball was Ohio State cornerback Ryan Watts, who committed in December. They have missed out on multiple safeties, pass rushers, and linebackers.
Recently, Texas learned that they missed out on another EDGE transfer.
FAMU EDGE Isaiah Land, who led the nation in sacks, entered the transfer portal a couple weeks ago but announced via Twitter he will return to Tallahassee.
Sticking with the FAMULY🐍 gotta finish what we started 💍🧡💚🤞🏾

This is another swing and miss for the Longhorns, as they do not have a single proven pass rusher on the roster at this time. His decision also comes after Ochaun Mathis’ decision to transfer to Nebraska, meaning that Land was likely the last chance Texas had to bring in someone who can get to the quarterback.
It was evident that Texas was interested as seemingly the whole staff followed Land on social media, but the 2021 FCS National Defensive Player of the Year will run it back one more time for the Rattlers.
