Ed Oliver’s performance has gradually improved since the start of the 2019 campaign. The league and fans took notice, as the ninth-overall pick was voted Pepsi Rookie of the Week for Week 13.
Oliver recorded two sacks on the day, the first multi-sack game of his career. He was a disruptive force all game, ending the day with four tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflected. He played 50-percent of the snaps on defense against Dallas, the first time he’s played this percentage of defensive plays since Week 7 against the Eagles.

Head coach Sean McDermott reflected upon Oliver’s growth this year after the outing.
“Ed has displayed that he’s about the team and that’s what we want. That’s who we are,” McDermott said. “That’s part of our culture and that said though, he has stayed hungry, and that’s been a part of the reason for his growth of late, in my opinion. He played fast last week in Dallas and started to do some things that he’d been working on and I think as he continues to work and put time in, he’ll continue to get the results. Usually, those two are connected, habits and results.”
On the season, Oliver hs recorded 28 total tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, seven quarterback hits, and four tackles for loss.
