Eagles to release LB Kyron Johnson from the practice squad ahead of season opener

The Philadelphia #Eagles are releasing linebacker Kyron Johnson from the practice squad ahead of Week 1 vs. Patriots

The Eagles are starting preparation for the season opener at New England, and the team has made a change to the practice squad.

According to Josh Tolentino, second-year linebacker Kyron Johnson is being released.

Philadelphia is reportedly set to sign Tyre Phillips in Johnson’s place, and the move will likely be made official on Tuesday afternoon.

An undersized Sam linebacker, Johnson was a sixth-round pick by the Eagles in the 2022 draft, and spent most of the season on the 53-man roster, earning praise for his play on special teams.

With the Eagles drafting Nolan Smith at No. 30 overall, Johnson became the odd man out behind Haason Reddick and Patrick Johnson.
