Eagles snap counts vs. the Steelers: Breakdown, analysis

We take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles snap count int he teams loss to the Steelers

The Philadelphia Eagles showed improvement on the road but in the end, mistakes and the inability to cover Chase Claypool led to the Birds 38-29 downfall to the Steelers on the road at Heinz Field.

As the Eagles (1-3-1) start preparing for a home contest against the Baltimore Ravens, here’s the Bird snap count from Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback: Carson Wentz 59 snaps, Jalen Hurts 2 snaps

Wentz completed 20-of-35 passes for 258 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also ran for 11 yards and completed a two-point conversion pass to wide receiver John Hightower.
Jalen Hurts played two snaps and completed his first NFL pass.

Offensive Line: Nate Herbig 59 snaps, Jordan Mailata 59 snaps, Jason Kelce 59 snaps, Matt Pryor 59 snaps, Lane Johnson 39 snaps, Jack Driscoll 27 snaps

The Eagles offensive line was extremely undermanned, but they played well at times despite giving up five sacks to the Steelers. The Steelers had 15 sacks in only three games prior to Sunday, while the Eagles were tied for the league lead with 17 in four contests.

Running Backs: Miles Sanders 50 snaps, Boston Scott 7 snaps, Corey Clement 3 snaps

Sanders played the majority of the snaps against the physical Steelers defense and broke off a career-long 74-yard touchdown run to help spark the Eagles early-on. Sanders had 11 carries for 80 yards rushing on the day, but after two early scores, the Eagles went away from the run.

Wide Receiver: John Hightower 48 snaps, Travis Fulgham 46 snaps, Greg Ward 41 snaps, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside 8 snaps, Quez Watkins 5 snaps

Travis Fulgham has his coming out party as a pro, racking up 10 catches for 152 yards and a touchdown. Arcega-Whiteside played 8 snaps and made a nice reception before the half.

Tight End: Zach Ertz 56 snaps, Richard Rodgers 19 snaps, Jason Croom 2 snaps

Ertz struggled on Sunday, logging just one catch on six targets for 6 yards.

Defensive Line: Brandon Graham 57 snaps, Fletcher Cox 54 snaps, Derek Barnett 49 snaps, Javon Hargrave 49 snaps, Malik Jackson 37 snaps, Josh Sweat 28 snaps, Hassan Ridgeway 24 snaps,

Graham led the Eagles defensive line with 57 snaps and Javon Hargrave had his most impressive day as an Eagle.

Linebacker: Nate Gerry 75 snaps, Duke Riley 56 snaps, Alex Singleton 28 snaps, Genard Avery 14 snaps, Shaun Bradley 4 snaps

Gerry led the Eagles in snaps with 75 and according to Pro Football Focus, Gerry entered the game 52nd out of 74 linebackers in overall linebacker play` and he was targeted on Chase Claypool’s final touchdown of the game.

Defensive Back: Rodney McLeod 75 snaps, Jalen Mills 73 snaps, Marcus Epps 54 snaps, Nickell Robey-Coleman 32 snaps, Cre’Von LeBlanc 32 snaps, Craig James 13 snaps, K’Von Wallace 13 snaps,
