Eagles’ Shane Steichen takes the blame for poor offensive performance vs. Saints

Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen blamed himself for the team opening the Week 17 loss to the Saints with four consecutive three and outs

The Eagles were dismal on offense against the Saints last Sunday and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen is taking the blame.

While meeting with the media on Thursday, one of the NFL’s top 2023 head coaching candidates fell on the sword, absorbing all the blame for Philadelphia starting the 20-10 loss with four straight three and outs.

Philadelphia was held to 61 total yards, two first downs (0 in first 29 minutes), 1-5 on 3rd downs, and 9 rushing yards in a miserable first-half performance as the team failed to wrap up the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

The Eagles had 0 rushing yards in the first quarter on Sunday, two passing yards, and three total offensive plays while falling behind.

Philadelphia had 11 total yards and back-to-back three-and-outs at one point with 8:30 remaining in the first half of that loss as well.

The expectation is that Jalen Hurts we’ll return for the season finale, but it’ll be on Steichen to put the Eagles’ offense in the best position to be successful.
