The Eagles like to develop quarterbacks, but the idea of drafting Hurts to utilize him in a Taysom Hill style role that will allow Carson Wentz to avoid some of the hits he’s usually subjected to.
Wentz’s $128 million is set to kick in so Hurts wasn’t drafted to replace or give Wentz competition. Howie Roseman and company likely have drafted a high-character quarterback, who’ll be suitable insurance in case Wentz suffers an injury.
