Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ties Cam Newton’s NFL record with 2-TD game on MNF

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is on pace to shatter a few of Cam Newton’s NFL records.

Whether or not it’s getting a push, Jalen Hurts’ tush has been reaching the end zone at historic levels.

Hurts pushed the Philadelphia Eagles to their ninth win of the season last night, getting a tiny bit of Super Bowl LVII revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs in a hard-fought 21-17 victory. The triumph was paced by the fourth-year passer’s pair of rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead 1-yard “Brotherly Shove” at the 6:20 mark of the fourth quarter.

But the scores did more than just net the Eagles a dub. They also put Hurts on some equal footing with a personal hero of his.

Hurts now has 10 career games with at least two rushing touchdowns, moving him into a tie alongside Carolina Panthers great Cam Newton for the NFL record by a quarterback. And Hurts, impressively enough, did it in 101 fewer games.

He’s also on pace to break Newton’s NFL record for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (75). His Monday night trips to pay dirt gave him 35 rushing scores, now the most through the first four seasons of a quarterback’s career. Newton accumulated 34 over that same timeframe.
