Eagles’ Jordan Mailata pointedly shrugged off Micah Parsons’ critical comments about Jalen Hurts

“We’ve got the Chicago Bears, not the Chicago Micah Parsons.”

Micah Parsons may have opened a can of worms he’ll soon come to regret.

In an episode of Bleacher Report’s “The VonCast” earlier this week, the Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher made critical comments about how much Jalen Hurts actually does for the juggernaut Philadelphia Eagles. While he did try to word-salad explain his position — with first-hand knowledge as a pro football player — the damage was done. The bulletin-board material was thrown out into the aether.

Parsons’ comments aside, the Cowboys and Eagles — arguably the NFC’s two best teams — do not play this week but on Christmas weekend.

When asked about Parsons’ critique of Hurts, that date of the Dallas-Philadelphia matchup was a fact not lost on a clearly perturbed Jordan Mailata — Hurts’ blindside protector at left tackle:

(Note: NSFW language in the video below. If you do not like bad words, do NOT press play. You have been warned!)

Phew. While Mailata didn’t address what Parsons said about Hurts’ limitations directly, it’s apparent he wasn’t happy about the assertion even being made. Nor that he was asked about it in a week where the Cowboys and Eagles don’t even play against each other.

It should be noted that when the Eagles beat the Cowboys 26-17 earlier this season, Parsons recorded zero sacks and zero quarterback hits of Hurts. The star pass rusher does move around Dallas’ defensive front, but a lot of that was undoubtedly due to Mailata’s efforts on the left side.

Something tells when this titanic NFC East rivalry rekindles its flame next week, Mailata — and perhaps the rest of the Eagles’ OL — will have an extra chip on their shoulder to potentially humble Parsons after he trash-talked their quarterback.
