Eagles’ Jalen Mills counts Jayson Tatum among his favorite NBA players

Philadelphia Eagles safety Jalen Mills counts Boston Celtics star swingman Jayson Tatum as one of his favorite players to watch in the NBA.

It’s not uncommon for New England Patriots players to support their fellow New England athletes on the Boston Celtics and vice-versa, but All-Star Celtic swingman Jayson Tatum has at least one out of market fan among NFL players.

That would be Philadelphia Eagles safety Jalen Mills, who puts the Duke product in some rarified company among NBA players he’s interested in following the careers of — the presumptive NBA Most Valuable Player of 2019-20 Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Dallas Mavericks wunderkind Luke Doncic.

“I’ve got three key guys that I’ve been paying attention to,” explained the Louisiana State product on a recent episode of the Heavy Live With Scoop B Show hosted by Heavy.com’s Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.

“Luka, you’ve got Giannis and Tatum,” explained. “I like Tatum out of Boston. I feel like with him, he’s an all around player.”

“He’s a guy that can shoot the three if you give it to him, he can get to the rack and also he has a midrange game, and he plays defense pretty good. He has an all around game that people look past,” added the Eagles safety, “that’s for sure.”

The St. Louis native has taken a huge step forward this season, nearly doubling his scoring from last season since the All-Star break.

If the Philadelphia star is right about people looking past Tatum’s two-way game, it won’t be for much longer.

After the former Blue Devil having registered significant votes for Most Improved Player while finding himself ranked the highest on a loaded Boston roster in NBA 2k21, Tatum is already on the fringes of true superstardom in the league.

Hopefully a little of that superstar mojo gets put to good use against the Toronto Raptors in Game 5 this evening with the series tied up at two games each.
