Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni played rock-paper-scissors with draft prospects to gauge their competitiveness

Nick Sirianni really played rock-paper-scissors to test competitiveness

The legend of Nick Sirianni continues to grow in Philadelphia and he hasn’t even coached a single game yet.

First, it was the moment where he introduced everyone to his “systems.” What are those systems? We have no idea, really. All we know is that they are systems and that they will apparently confuse a defense.

Now, we have an idea of how he gauges competitiveness. Apparently, he’ll just challenge you to a game of rock-paper-scissors to see how much you really want to win.

That’s what he did to NFL draft prospects during the Eagle’s draft process, he said.

“I played a couple of them in rock-paper-scissors. That was as easy as that. Rock-paper-scissors, let’s see how competitive you are. I’m competitive. I’m going to be talking trash to them. Did you talk trash back to me, right?”

He explained his rationale behind it.

“Anything you compete at, when you compete with somebody that’s competitive they’re going to go at you no matter what game you’re playing.”

That is wild. Trying to gauge how competitive someone is is probably something you have to do as a coach. But doing it with rock-paper-scissors?

Let’s just say that’s very, uh, outside of the box. What a gem.
