Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is ‘pissed off,’ Blames himself for poor performance vs. Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles came off the Week 9 bye in a positive position and in the driver’s seat in the NFC East. By Sunday afternoon, Philadelphia was still first place but there’s now some doubt about this team’s future after an uninspired 27-17 loss to the Giants on the road.

Doug Pederson had one of the poorest performances in the afternoon and on Monday morning, the “pissed off” head coach took the blame for his team’s dismal performance.

“I’m pissed off, Angelo,” Pederson told Angelo Cataldi of 94WIP. “I’m pissed off at myself. I’m pissed off at the way we played. It frustrates me to no end. We have too much pride, I have too much pride. These players have too much pride. We work our ass off during the week. It is frustrating. It is frustrating. Blame it on me all you want. I’ll handle it with the players, you can blame it on me. I’m a big guy. It’s fine. We’re self-inflicted ourselves. We are killing ourselves. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. All of those cliche little statements are still showing up and it’s frustrating.”

The Eagles again played without an offensive identity and despite successfully running the ball on the Giants with three running backs, the pass strongly outweighed the run and Pederson failed to put Carson Wentz in positive positions with rollouts and quick screens.

The Eagles committed 11 penalties for 74 yards and went 0-for-9 on third downs, both critical reasons for the loss as Philadelphia now embarks on five straight games against some high powered competition.
