The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Darius Slay with the idea of finally have a shutdown cornerback capable of taking away one half of the field.
During an introductory press conference with the media on Thursday, Slay gave some insight into why he takes pride in shadowing the opposing teams top wide receiver.
Rather than just pick a side like some other top cornerbacks do, Slay travels, lining up in the slot, on the outside all by himself.
When asked about his penchant for taking on the top guys in the NFL, Slay confidently stated that “he wants the game” on him when it matters.

Slay went on to say that he didn’t know if Jim Schwartz will have him shadow the opponent wit the Eagles, but that he’ll do whatever Schwartz calls for.
Slay made it clear that he likes the “challenge” that comes with matching up with the opposition’s No. 1 target and after getting a contract extension that makes him the highest-paid in the NFL, Schwartz has to be salivating at the matchups he can now dictate.
