Dylan Raiola’s commitment only leaves one top 10 QB uncommitted

Only the No. 7 quarterback remains uncommitted in the top 10.

The biggest target in the 2024 college football recruiting class has made his commitment. We saw this before when Dylan Raiola originally committed to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes before backing off and re-opening his commitment.

Of the teams that have pledges among the top 10 quarterbacks, two notable schools are missing. Both the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns picked up five-star quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle and are less likely to go after a top name in this class. However, I would imagine they will be back in the market in the 2025 cycle.

Top quarterbacks per 247Sports composite:

Patrick Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK
  1. Dylan Raiola, Georgia (Pinnacle in Phoenix, AZ)
  2. Julian Sayin, Alabama (Carlsbad, CA)
  3. DJ Lagway, Florida (Willis, TX)
  4. Jadyn Davis, Michigan (Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC)
  5. CJ Carr, Notre Dame (Saline, MI)
  6. Air Noland, Ohio State (Langston Hughes in Fairburn, GA)
  7. Elijah Brown, uncommitted (Mater Dei in Santa Ana, CA)
  8. Jake Merklinger, Tennessee (Calvary Day School in Savannah, GA)
  9. Walker White, Auburn (Little Rock Christian Academy in Little Rock, AR)
  10. Luke Kromenhoek, Florida State (Benedictine Military School in Savannah, GA)

The interesting dynamic for Georgia will revolve around how many quarterbacks they will take in the 2024 class. Prior to the commitment from the No. 1 overall prospect, they already held a commitment from the No. 12 quarterback out of Connecticut, Ryan Puglisi. He is the No. 200 overall prospect and a four-star.

Taking two quarterbacks in a class isn’t unheard of but the Bulldogs already have a plethora of quarterbacks on the current roster with Carson Beck, Gunner Stockton, and Brock Vandagriff. Obviously in the transfer portal era, your depth chart could be wiped out in a moment’s notice. But with the portal’s second window closed, this isn’t something that Kirby Smart has to worry about until next December.

As for Elijah Brown, his recruitment should get kicked into overdrive with Oregon, Southern California, and Nebraska all whiffing on the prize recruit of the 2024 cycle.

The aforementioned Trojans are in a three-horse race with rivals UCLA and Stanford for the pledge of the fringe five-star quarterback.

The arms race continues in college football.
