Tennessee graduate student and distance specialist Dylan Jacobs recorded the second fastest 3,000-meter race in collegiate history Saturday at the 115th Millrose Games in New York, New York.
Jacobs, a transfer from Notre Dame and native of Orland Park, Illinois, crossed the finish line in seven minutes, 36.89 seconds. His mark is 47 seconds off the record.
Jacobs’ performance Saturday comes two weeks after he set the American collegiate record in the 5,000-meter run.
Tennessee’s distance squad also had three student-athletes set personal records in the 5,000-meter event at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University Saturday.
Nate Kawalec finished the race in 13:46.76. Eli Nahom crossed the line in 13:57.50, recording the seventh fastest time in Vols’ history, while Karl Thiessen finished with a time of 14:07.17.
In the Music City Challenge, two Lady Vols set personal best times in their respective events.
Emma Kate Hamby finished the unseeded 3,000-meter run in 10:07.74, while Carolyn Barksdale crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run in 2:11.14.
