Duke football receives no votes in US LBM Coaches Poll after first loss

After their first loss of the season on Saturday, the Duke Blue Devils received no votes in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

In the eyes of college football coaches, one loss was enough to drop the Blue Devils from the ranks of college football’s best.

USA TODAY Sports released the updated US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday, and after receiving more than a dozen votes last week, Duke football didn’t receive a single vote.

First-year head coach Manny Diaz and his team built a 14-10 lead over Georgia Tech in the third quarter on Saturday, standing just 15 minutes from a sixth straight victory to open the season. The Yellow Jackets flipped the script this time, however, scoring two late touchdowns to come back against the comeback kids.

Duke gets a bye week, one Diaz said it desperately needs, before hosting the Florida State Seminoles on October 18.

The Miami Hurricanes rose two spots to sixth after a stunning 25-point comeback against the California Golden Bears, but Mario Cristobal’s team officially has a challenger in the conference. After a 29-13 victory over the Seminoles, the Clemson Tigers rose to 11th in the country.
