Duane Washington to enter NBA draft, could still return

Ohio State guard Duane Washington has decided to enter his name into the 2021 NBA draft, but has left the door open to coming back to OSU.

Ohio State guard Duane Washington has decided to enter the NBA draft and is committed to going through the process. He announced his decision through his Twitter account on Friday. It makes the second OSU player to make a similar decision with E.J. Liddell also entering his name in the draft last week.

Like Liddell, the door is still open to returning to Ohio State. because of a rule change back in 2016, players can go through the process, receive critical feedback, and then decide to come back for another year of college as long as they don’t hire an agent. According to Eleven Warriors, Washington will maintain his eligibility.

Though many have been frustrated with some of the end game decisions Washington has made, he blossomed into Ohio State’s leading scorer over the last third of this past season. His game has continued to evolve, and he can score at a high clip both from the outside and with an improved game going to the basket.

You can almost bank on Washington receiving feedback that he needs to improve his decision making, shot selection, and defense from the NBA types, but never say never.

We’ll keep an eye on this as things progress through the process. The 2021 NBA draft is scheduled for July 29.
