Drew Stevens’ 52-yard field goal lifts Iowa over Northwestern

Northwestern tied Iowa on a drive but the Hawkeyes got the win with a late field goal

There was mercy on the souls of college football fans on Saturday.

Drew Stevens kicked a 52-yard field goal with 14 seconds left to give Iowa a dreary 10-7 win over Northwestern at Wrigley Field.

The game, which saw 15 punts, was scoreless at the half.

Iowa got on the board first.

Northwestern couldn’t get into the end zone after an 18-play drive bridging the third and fourth quarters.

However, the Wildcats’ defense stopped Iowa at Wrigley Field in the fourth quarter.

That set up a short punt and given another short field, the Wildcats finally scored on a Brendan Sullivan pass to Cam Johnson for 5 yards.
