Draymond Green remains valuable to Steph Curry’s game

When he’s on the court, Draymond Green can still get the best out of Steph Curry.

Draymond Green has once again made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The veteran forward was ejected during the Golden State Warriors win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday after receiving two technical fouls for an altercation with game official Ray Acosta.

However, Fox Sports Rachel Nichols believes Green’s value to the Warriors, and more specifically, to Steph Curry, will ensure the front office continues to work with the veteran as he looks to move past his current disciplinary issues. She noted Curry’s stats are noticeably better when he’s on the court with Green.

“It’s what he does for this team,” Nichols said. “It’s what he does for this star player. … Every single major stat category, every single one, Steph’s numbers are better when Draymond is on the floor with him. … He activates Steph in a way that frankly no one else has been able to. … Therefore, that is why they signed him to the four-year $100 million contract this season. … I think you will see Draymond on this Warriors team with Steph for quite a long time.”

Green has been ejected four times this season. He has served two suspensions. The Warriors need him to stay out of trouble and to focus on contributing to wins. If he continues to create negative press and gets ejected from games, his tenure in the Bay Area could be in jeopardy.

Nevertheless, Green’s importance to the Warriors can’t be overstated. He’s the team’s emotional leader. He’s a generational defensive talent. And he understands what it takes to win a championship. Still, he needs to dial back his antics. Otherwise, everything else he brings to the table might not be worth the trade-off.
