Drake Maye standing out at Manning Passing Academy

UNC football quarterback Drake Maye was named a stand out at the Manning Passing Academy.

We still have a few months before we see quarterback Drake Maye leading the North Carolina offense on the football field. But as we sit here in late June, Maye is impressing at one of the best passing camps.

The annual Manning Passing Academy features some of the best college quarterbacks helping out the younger generation work on their skills. It also includes games and competitions that players participate in.

And one publication had some high praise for Maye as he was named a standout early on by On3:

The “Long Shot Challenge” didn’t last very long on Friday evening. Maye, standing 50 yards from a basketball goal, dropped a pass through the net to end the competition before it got rolling. Maye looked sharp on Friday, and at 6-foot-5, 220-plus pounds, he stands out from the crowd. Caleb Williams is widely considered the top draft-eligible quarterback in college football, but don’t sleep on Maye now that he has a year’s worth of starts under his belt.

Maye is coming off of a big first season as a starter, setting some records and bursting onto the national scene.

Going into this year, Maye is considered one of the Heisman favorites along with USC’s Caleb Williams. The two are also considered elite prospects for the 2024 NFL draft among quarterbacks.
