The 2024 college football season is almost here, which means it is time to get ready to root for your Michigan Wolverines as they look to defend their 2024 national championship. It won’t be easy now that Michigan has the target on their backs.
The Sherrone Moore era gets underway against the Fresno State Bulldogs after being named the head coach following Jim Harbaugh’s exit to the NFL. There will be a monumental matchup in Week 2 when the Texas Longhorns come to the Big House, Big Noon Kickoff will also be there for the second-ever matchup between these two Blue Blood programs. The game was originally scheduled to happen in Austin but moved to Ann Arbor as part of the Big 12 exit negotiations.
The Big Ten slate gets started against the newest conference members, the USC Trojans. These historic programs have only met 10 times, with eight coming in the annual Pac-12 vs Big Ten Rose Bowl. Michigan won the only matchup in Ann Arbor 20-19 during the 1958 season. We will also see the CFP national championship rematch on Oct. 5 when the Wolverines face the Washington Huskies at Husky Stadium.
The month of November will feature two monumental matchups with the Oregon Ducks on Nov. 2 and the Game against the Ohio State Buckeyes to close out the regular season on Nov. 30. Those two matchups will likely determine if Michigan can defend their title in the expanded playoff field.
There are plenty of questions to be answered as the countdown to the season continues, including who will be the starting quarterback.
