The last time we saw Eli Apple he had turned heel on the New Orleans Saints, taking every opportunity to trash his former teammates, coaches, fans, and even the local cuisine — before he shut down his Twitter account after giving up too many touchdown passes in the playoffs, ending the Cincinnati Bengals’ Super Bowl bid.
But now he’s back: with the Miami Dolphins, who signed Apple as a possible fill-in for Jalen Ramsey, who is expected to return from knee surgery in December. Apple’s return to the news cycle was welcomed by his new teammate Tyreek Hill, who let it be known how eager he is to practice against his new teammate at training camp.
Unfortunately, Saints fans won’t see their team play the Dolphins until 2025 at the soonest, barring a Super Bowl matchup in the immediate future. And if that’s the case, they’ll have much bigger fish to fry than Apple.
