Dolphins OL Kion Smith reportedly suffered ACL tear

Dolphins third-year lineman Kion Smith reportedly suffered a serious knee injury Friday night.

Miami Dolphins veteran offensive lineman Kion Smith is likely done for the year after tests showed the injury he suffered Friday night in a preseason game was a torn ACL, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston.

Smith, 25, spent the majority of his first two seasons in the NFL on the Dolphins’ practice squad with the exception of nine games he appeared in during the 2023 season. He’s played 115 career regular season snaps (70 on offense and 45 on special teams) during his time with the Dolphins.

A bigger role for Smith seemed to be a possibility after the team allowed Robert Hunt to leave in free agency. In the first depth chart of the year, Smith was listed as the second-team right guard behind Robert Jones.

Against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, Smith started at left guard but played just eight snaps before suffering his game-ending injury.

Last week, the Dolphins reportedly brought in veteran offensive linemen Scott Quessenberry and Justin McCray for workouts. Miami also signed lineman Sean Harlow last weekend.
