Dolphins drop in power rankings during bye week

Miami slips in power rankings again despite not playing.

The Miami Dolphins weren’t in action this week, but they watched a lot of teams around them that they needed to lose do exactly that.

Through 10 weeks, Mike McDaniel’s team has put together a 6-3 record, but their losses against the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs have some questioning whether or not they’re actually contenders.

With the season hitting the second half, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey has been producing weekly power rankings for the NFL. Last week, following their loss in Germany, Miami fell to No. 7. Now, after a week off, they’ve fallen even further to No. 8.

Here’s what Bailey had to say about the Dolphins:

“The Dolphins face a hungry Raiders team this week in Miami. All due respect to the Raiders, Miami should win this handedly.”

Ahead of the Dolphins, at this point, are the Dallas Cowboys (No. 7), San Francisco 49ers (No. 6), Baltimore Ravens (No. 5), Cincinnati Bengals (No. 4), Detroit Lions (No. 3), Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2) and Philadelphia Eagles (No. 1).

In just the last week, the Cowboys and 49ers lept over Miami while the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 9) fell behind them.

A win against Las Vegas won’t prove much, but teams ahead of them could certainly lose and push the Dolphins up a bit next week.
