Micah Parsons is a beast!
During his rookie year of 2021, the Cowboys linebacker quickly and thoroughly silenced doubters concerned about character issues – a tag which dogged the unanimous AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, once he decided to bolt from Penn State.
Parsons fell into the Cowboys lap as the 12th pick in the draft, and any character concerns have so far not materialized. Drawing comparisons to the legendary Lawrence Taylor, Parsons’ encore season has proven to be nothing short of magical. Through 13 games, he’s recorded 12 sacks, and has garnered some buzz for the league’s MVP award.
Of course, that award traditionally goes to an offensive player, more precisely a QB, but a case can be made for Parsons to become just the third defender, and first since LT in 1986, to capture the honor.
Sports Seriously recently spoke with teammate CeeDee Lamb about the prospect of the linebacker adding to his ever-growing legacy by capturing the MVP. And while Lamb didn’t reveal who he thinks should take home the hardware, he indicated Parsons “for sure should be up for defensive player of the year, if not MVP.” “He’s been a train wreck for offensive coordinators, and left tackles, and right tackles,” said Lamb. “He’s been balling.”
Lamb cited a host of unique attributes the 23-year-old outside linebacker brings to the field. “Try to scramble out of the pocket and he’s going to catch you,” said Lamb. “You have to watch for 11 when he’s out there.”
