Does Bill Belichick prefer to coach a smaller-market team?

Is this the reason why nothing materialized between Bill Belichick and the Philadelphia Eagles or Dallas Cowboys?

Bill Belichick’s next coaching destination remains undecided. However, more speculation is coming out about where he may want to coach.

The Atlanta Falcons seem like the team in the lead for Belichick’s services, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. Nevertheless, there are still other teams that may be in play.

Atlanta is coming off their third 7-10 season in a row. They could be the perfect team for Belichick to focus on leading the charge. The media market may be more preferable for Belichick as well, as Florio noted.

Although Belichick to Atlanta is not done yet, there’s buzz around the league that it’s moving in that direction. As one league source explained it, Belichick is believed to be done with “big-market media,” making him more inclined to go to a place like Atlanta than Dallas or Philadelphia.

Dallas would certainly provide some intrigue, as the Cowboys already have several pieces in place to compete for a championship.

Former Patriot Devin McCourty has even called for Belichick to be the next head coach for the Cowboys. There is also Philadelphia, who is only one season removed from a Super Bowl run. They, too, would be intriguing.

However, talks between Belichick and the Falcons appear to be heating up with a second interview between the two sides on the horizon.
