Doc Rivers reveals that at least 3 starters will sit for Sixers vs. Nets

Doc Rivers reveals that three starters will sit for the Philadelphia 76ers when they take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Philadelphia 76ers have wrapped up training camp and will board a plane to New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday in the preseason opener.

Considering it is just the preseason, there is no pressing need to have the starters play big minutes. Instead, the preseason opener is time for the younger players to get some minutes and experience.

Therefore, coach Doc Rivers revealed on Sunday that at least three of the starters will sit in the preseason opener.

“Not many of them, but a couple may,” said Rivers. “It’s still not really decided, honestly. At least three will sit.”

This will be James Harden’s first game back in Brooklyn since the trade to Philadelphia at the 2022 deadline. He might be one of the starters sitting out that Rivers was referring to, but all eyes will be on him whether he plays or not.

However, Harden isn’t putting much stock into this one on Monday.

“I mean, it’s a preseason game,” he said. “So, yeah.”

Tipoff from the Barclays Center is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT on Monday.
