CAMDEN, N.J.–The all-important Dec. 15 date has come and gone in the league as more players have become available to be moved and traded for. Now is the time when there will be plenty of trade rumors and talks as teams prepare for the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
The Philadelphia 76ers, who are led by president Daryl Morey, are one of those teams who figure to be lurking as they look to ensure they have the necessary pieces to compete for and win a title in the 2022-23 season.
With that being said, it has been tough for coach Doc Rivers and the rest of the team to really evaluate their needs and who they really are. Therefore, making a trade here and there will be tough for Morey and the front office to make.
“I think you’re evaluating all year,” said coach Doc Rivers at practice on Sunday. “I don’t know if we’re at a place where we say we need to do something. We haven’t had enough guys on the floor to know that, but we still have our eyes open. I mean I’m sure we do and that’s what upstairs is for.”
With that being said, Rivers understands that the Sixers are far from a finished product. That is not just true for Philadelphia but for most teams around the league. They need to continue to play the games and grow in order to get to where they want to be.
“Yeah, but that’s every team,” Rivers added. “Show me a team with no weakness and I’ll show you the team that’s probably going to win and there’s no team like that. Every team has weaknesses.”
