The Boston Celtics have made a substantial move in the Eastern Conference arms race by acquiring ex-Milwaukee Bucks star guard Jrue Holiday via a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, despite having missed out on Damian Lillard, the former Blazers star instead heading to the Bucks, making the Holiday trade possible.

In exchange for Holiday, the Celtics traded away 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogden, fan-favorite big man Robert Williams III, a 2024 Golden State Warriors first round pick, and a 2029 Boston unprotected first round pick.
