DL Carlos Watkins suffers biceps injury in loss to Giants

The Cardinals are already down tow D-linemen. Watkins could miss a significant amount of time.

The Arizona Cardinals were down two starting defensive linemen on Sunday when they lost 31-28 to the New York Giants. One of their replacement starters, veteran Carlos Watkins, got hurt in the game.

Watkins had two tackles and a tipped pass in the first half but exited with what was called an arm injury.

After the game, head coach Jonathan Gannon said Watkins has a biceps injury.

This, of course, should give fans reason to be worried. Fellow defensive lineman L.J. Collier suffered a biceps injury last week. He is on injured reserve and, according to Gannon, it will be “a long time” to come back from it. He didn’t sound optimistic that Collier would be able to return this season.

If Watkins has a similar injury, that would mean losing two veteran defensive linemen on a unit that is lean on talent and experience.
