Bears wide receiver DJ Moore and cornerback Jaylon Johnson have been a must-watch pairing over the last couple of practices of training camp, where iron is sharpening iron.
It’s everything what you want to see from your best receiver and best cornerback.
Johnson hasn’t shied away from going against Moore during practice, where he’s embracing the opportunity to go against one of the top wideouts in the NFL.
“I like it because I’m competitive, and I like to think he’s one of the better receivers in the league,” Johnson said. “Just being able to go against a guy of that caliber each and every day. I try to get that matchup as much as I can.”

While Moore has gotten the better of Johnson on several occasions, including the 1-on-1 matchup above, CB1 has more than held his own against WR1. In fact, Johnson managed the impossible: Stopping the force that is Fields to Moore with a couple of forced incompletions.
“It’s something I know I’m going to make him better and he’s going to make me better, as well,” Johnson said. “He’s a heck of a guy at the catch point and will definitely challenge and compete. So I’m all for it.”
With Johnson in the middle of contract negotiations, perhaps holding his own against what’s been a nearly-unstoppable Moore will help his case.
