Dion Dawkins, Rasul Douglas defend Stefon Diggs’ Bills departure

When the #Bills and #Texans faceoff next season, it doesn’t sound like former teammates will be upset with Diggs. Dawkins and Douglas are not:

Two current Buffalo Bills players have shown a bit of support, or at least understanding, on what went down with former teammate Stefon Diggs.

After plenty of chatter off the field, the All-Pro receiver was traded by the Bills to the Houston Texans this offseason. Speculation had long insisted there could be some issues between Diggs and teammates behind closed doors leading to the move.

When it comes to offensive lineman Dion Dawkins and cornerback Rasul Douglas, that clearly was not the case.

In recent days, both Dawkins and Douglas have defended Diggs.

“Probably one of the best teammates I’ve had,” Dawkins said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “I think what the world mistakes, of what they’re calling ‘drama,’ is just the passion he has for the sport.”

Then Douglas added via KPRC2-TV in Houston: “He just wants to win. I think those players are low key misunderstood.”

There’s no real reason to read between the lines at all. Sport is called a “business” for reasons such as Diggs being dealt.

And Diggs clearly appreciates what the duo said.

He took to his social media account on X/formerly Twitter to send out similar messages to both:

When the Bills and Texans faceoff in Week 5 during the 2024 season, don’t expect much beef.
