The Boston Celtics were in position to regain first place in the Eastern Conference ahead of their Tuesday night tilt with the lowly Washington Wizards, who should have been even more harmless than usual due to two starters being out injured.

However, the Celtics somehow found a way to drop a key game against a team that has no business keeping pace with a contender.

Shrugged off by head coach Joe Mazzulla as “just one of those games,” a squandered opportunity to secure home court advantage for every round of the postseason could very well turn out to be something considerably more significant once the 2023 postseason gets underway.
