Did Bill Belichick wear Giants Super Bowl rings at NFL 100 celebration?

It seems Bill Belichick sported New York Giants Super Bowl rings at the NFL 100 celebration in Miami.

The National Football League put their NFL 100 team on display before the game at Super Bowl LIV in Miami last Sunday.

Bill Belichick was one of the all-time coaches on the team and decided to bring some hardware along to goad his haters. He was shown sporting three of his eight Super Bowl rings.

But which three did he bring?

Matt Dolloff of 985TheSportsHub.com believes Belichick wore the ring he received as head coach of the Pats in their 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams last year in Super Bowl LIII.

The other two rings were from Belichick’s days as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, Super Bowls XXI and XXV.

Why those three? I’m guessing those are the games he’s most proud of. As a defensive guru, the two Giants wins were due to dominating defensive play, shutting down two Hall of Fame quarterbacks in John Elway and Jim Kelly. The third was the stifling D his Pats played in the win against the powerful Rams’ offensive last year.

On Belichick’s left ring finger appears to be the ring from the Giants’ 1987 win in Super Bowl XXI, Belichick’s first as their defensive coordinator. It’s identifiable by the large Lombardi Trophy against a blue background. According to a listing at Heritage Auctions, the ring features 1.2 carats of diamonds as part of the trophy design.

As for the third ring? It’s a lot harder to discern than the other two. But by process of elimination, It’s not a Patriots ring because of the heavy gold tint. It’s likely Belichick’s other Super Bowl ring with the Giants, from Super Bowl XXV in 1991. When Belichick flips his hands around, you can get a quick look at the front of the ring, which features two football-shaped diamonds.”

Belichick has always cherished his Giants days. In interviews he always speaks fondly of the organization and the team, especially the defense. It’s no surprise he brought those rings as reminders of those dominant games.
