DeVonta Smith isn’t the first Alabama player to be spoiled by the talent surrounding him in Tuscaloosa.
The Heisman-winning wide receiver had the benefit of catching passing from Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones for most of his collegiate career, giving him a unique perspective on what each of the talented quarterbacks brings to the table.
Tagovailoa was the No. 5 overall pick in last year’s draft, but some have wondered whether or not Jones is a better prospect after his incredibly productive 2020 season, one that saw the Crimson Tide go undefeated and win another national title.
Smith was evidently asked by an NFL team at the Senior Bowl which quarterback he preferred, and his answer was pretty emphatic, per Albert Breer of SI.com:
Mac or Tua?
DeVonta Smith gave his answer.

So, while most projections and rankings consider Jones the fifth-best quarterback in this year’s class, Smith appears to have a much higher opinion of him.
