It’s been a fairly rough season for the San Antonio Spurs this year, as they have been at the bottom of the Western Conference for the majority of the season. The presence of Victor Wembanyama has given fans something to root for, but as of late, they’ve also been improving their level of play, leading to more wins.
Heading into their Friday night contest against the New York Knicks, the Spurs had won two games in a row. They took down the Phoenix Suns without Wembanyama in the lineup, and just a couple of days later, they earned a win over Utah Jazz in which Devin Vassell dropped an impressive 31 points.
After the Spurs made it three in a row against the New York Knicks with a 130-126 win, Vassell spoke about the team’s mentality heading into the night. (H/t Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio-Express)
“Three in a row, that’s all we were talking about,” Vassell said of the team’s mindset before the Knicks game. “Can we please get this one to make it three in a row?”
Vassell finished the game against the Knicks with 23 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and one steal while shooting 10-of-22 from the field and 3-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc.
