As the Patriots quarterback Stephon Gilmore continues to recover from COVID-19, his teammates have indicated that the cornerback is still going through the recovery process.

Gilmore was placed on the COVID-19 list last week, and he could be close to returning to the Patriots facility.

To this point, he hasn’t shown any symptoms. If he produces two negative tests in 24 hours, he can come back to  the team with clearance from a doctor. He could also return after 10 days with clearance from a doctor even he has not tested negative.

It’s all part of navigating through the 2020 NFL season. Wednesday, Devin McCourty indicated that Gilmore was still going through the recovery process.

“No, I mean he’s still going through the process, so I’m not sure exactly how that works because we’ve all been in it at different times,” McCourty said via video conference. “So, I’m not really sure if he’s allowed back in or not. I haven’t talked to him yet today so I guess we have to all see how that works moving forward. I would say, Bill Belichick is probably a better man to ask about that than I am.”

As the Patriots get into the harder portion of the schedule, the secondary could undoubtedly use a boost from Gilmore’s return. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact his return has on the secondary as a unit.
