Deuce Vaughn got an incredibly emotional Cowboys draft call from his proud dad, a scout for Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys made the coolest moment of the 2023 NFL Draft possible on Saturday.

The Dallas Cowboys made what is probably going to wind up being the coolest pick of the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday.

When the Cowboys picked Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn in the sixth round, it gave them a promising young rusher to add to their backfield late in the draft.

It also gave them the draft phone call of a lifetime, as Vaughn’s father, Cowboys assistant director of college scouting Chris Vaughn, got the chance to call his son and tell him he’d been drafted by the team his dad works for.

A clearly moved Dallas draft room understood the gravity of the moment as various emotional members of Cowboys leadership spoke with the younger Vaughn right after his father broke the fantastic news.

This might be one of the coolest moments in NFL Draft history. Being able to join a franchise someone you love works for is cool enough as it is, but having your dad be the one to call you and tell you your NFL dream has come true at the place where he does his scouting? It’s unbeatable.

As much as folks can hate on the Cowboys, you have to tip your caps to Dallas for making this incredible moment come to life. People around the Cowboys will be talking about this for years, and rightly so.
