A week ago, the New York Giants rose in the USA TODAY power rankings despite falling to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. This week, despite a win, they remained in place.
The Giants pulled off an impressive upset over the AFC West-leading (at the time) Las Vegas Raiders, closing out a victory in the final seconds. But that wasn’t enough to sway Nate Davis, who kept the Giants at No. 24 overall.
24. Giants (24): Nice to see S Xavier McKinney’s emergence, including two INTs and a TD on Sunday, after a rookie season largely lost to injury in 2020.
In addition to McKinney, rookie edge rusher Quincy Roche also had a breakout performance.
Comparatively, the Washington Football Team, who enjoyed a much-needed bye week, dropped two spots to No. 28 overall. But the Philadelphia Eagles, who lost their sixth game of the season, climbed one spot to No. 22 overall.
The Dallas Cowboys dropped one spot to No. 6 overall following their beating at the hands of the Denver Broncos.
Finally, the Arizona Cardinals reclaimed the top overall spot on the USA TODAY power rankings, while the Detroit Lions remained firmly in place at No. 32 overall.
