Earlier this week, a rumor floated by an NFL reporter for a national outlet stated that the Houston Texans were looking to move players at the trade deadline, including receivers Kenny Stills, Will Fuller, and even Randall Cobb, who they signed in free agency.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson shot down the rumor in his Wednesday presser with reporters.
“Them boys ain’t getting traded,” Watson said. “That was something that we squashed at the end of practice. It wasn’t too big of a deal. I know a lot of people are probably thinking that Randall was saying he was getting traded. He’s not going anywhere. Nobody’s going anywhere. We’re going to stick with this team and keep pushing forward.”
According to Watson, there was a full team meeting on the practice field to get everyone on the same page and not focusing on the rumors.
Said Watson: “All that stuff is just kind of something that we wanted to squash because there was a lot of noise and people of course see it on social media. We just basically squashed it and letting everyone know to focus on ball and focus on this team.”
The Texans are subject to sundry distractions, which is one of the prizes a 1-5 team acquires. Houston will need as much focus as possible as they seek to hand the Green Bay Packers their second loss of the season in Week 7 Sunday at NRG Stadium. The Texans have never beaten the Packers in Houston.
