Derrick White’s dad Richard on his son’s season with the Boston Celtics, title hopes and more

Few people know Derrick White’s game better than his father Richard.

The trade that the Boston Celtics made to bring on point guard Derrick White was derided as an overpay by many fans and analysts at the time. But now, the deal is looking like quite the steal for the Celtics, who picked up an All-Star level talent for rotation players and minimal draft assets.

And few people know Derrick White’s game better than his father Richard, who also happens to be a lifelong Celtics fan. CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning, cohost of the “Garden Report” podcast, linked up with the elder White to talk about Derrick’s career year, the Celtics’ title aspirations, and more, providing insight into the younger White’s journey and the team’s potential for success this season.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear their talk in full.
