Derick Hall made a living in LSU’s backfield on Saturday in Auburn’s 48-11 victory over the Bayou Bengals. For his efforts, he has been named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Hall recorded four tackles with two sacks and two tackles for a loss as Kevin Steele’s defense shut down true freshman quarterback T.J. Finley and a potent LSU offense.

“We really worked extremely hard on that,” Malzahn said of picking up the pressure by the defensive line. “That’s been an emphasis. We’ve improved. Their offensive line is very solid. For us to do it against them says a lot and I think we can continue that. They really took a step forward … We knew they’d try to come in here and run the football with a freshman quarterback making his first start on the road.”
