Every NFL team heads into each season with the Super Bowl as their goal. Unfortunately, some teams are better equipped to make that goal a reality. And as general managers look to add free agents to help them reach their goal, some players are looking for the best team to help them reach that goal too.
Baltimore Ravens defensive end Derek Wolfe has been to the promised land once before, winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos, and he’s looking to add another Super Bowl ring to his collection. Re-signing with the Ravens this offseason on a three-year deal, Wolfe said being with a winner was his primary motivator.
“Winning football games is all I really care about at this point in my career,” Wolfe said at his press conference last week. “The money is great [and] everything, but at the end of the day, it’s not worth putting your body through it if you’re not competing for something. Competing for a championship year-in and year-out for the next three years is going to be great.”
Wolfe has good reason to believe Baltimore will be competing for a Super Bowl for at least this season. The Ravens have been to the postseason the last three years, making it as far as the Divisional Round the last two seasons. With most of last year’s roster already set to return for the 2021 season and a pedigree of sustained success, Baltimore has been considered Super Bowl LVI favorites by oddsmakers all offseason.
Unfortunately, only one team can actually claim to be the best in the NFL every season. Whether it’ll be the Ravens this time will have to be seen but Wolfe certainly picked a good spot if he wants to be in the running come January.
