Derek Ruscin issues apology for rant on Michael Turner

The radio show host was recently suspended for on-air remarks made directed towards Arkansas catcher Michael Turner.

Two days after being officially suspended for a rant made towards a student-athlete at the University of Arkansas, radio host Derek Ruscin has issued a public apology.

Ruscin, host of “Ruscin and Zach” that airs from 3-7 p.m. weekdays on ESPN Arkansas stations across the state, took to Twitter on Tuesday to issue an apology for remarks made toward Arkansas baseball’s [autotag]Michael Turner[/autotag].

Ruscin’s rant was in response to Turner saying that “we are trying to keep the circle tight and cut out a lot of the outside noise” during the postgame press conference following Arkansas’ 7-5 loss to Florida last Friday in the SEC Tournament, a loss that eliminated the Razorbacks.

To dig deeper into his comments, Turner elaborated that some Arkansas fans are good, and some are not, citing that reading Twitter following a loss can “get in your head a little bit.”

Since the incident, Arkansas fans have shown support towards Turner, hoping to give Turner, as well as the rest of the team, some motiviation for the upcoming regional to be played in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State.
