The NFL regular season is winding down, and the playoff picture is becoming much clearer. With a number of teams eliminated already, fans are looking ahead to 2025, and the NFL Draft. One intriguing Kentucky football player will be defensive tackle Deone Walker.
At 6’6″ and nearly 350 lbs, Walker is a mammoth player on the defensive line. However, he’s quicker than he looks, and has the ability to generate pass rush on his own as well, which adds value for NFL teams.

Most NFL mock drafts have had Walker in the first few rounds, and a new one from CBS Sports writer Josh Edwards has him going at the end of round one. He predicts him to be selected 30th overall by the Minnesota Vikings.
There is a shortage of potential impact players in this year’s first round. When teams look for players with untapped potential and unique attributes, Deone Walker will be towards the top of the list. Minnesota’s defense needs more to create a sustainable style of play.
The NFL Draft is still a ways off, and things can change. However, it looks like Deone Walker will be off the board early on in the process. If he goes it round one, it won’t surprise many people.
