Last week, news broke that the NFL is planning to cut preseason in half this year. For the Denver Broncos — and every NFL team — that will mean two games in August instead of the usual four games.
The league is eliminating the games previously scheduled for Week 1 and Week 4. For the Broncos, that means a home game against the San Francisco 49ers (Aug. 15) and a road game against the Arizona Cardinals (Sept. 3) has been canceled.
Here’s a look at Denver’s updated preseason schedule:
Week 1 (Week 2) | Broncos vs. Chicago Bears | Aug. 22 at 7:05 p.m. | (KTVD-20) |
Week 2 (Week 3) | Broncos @ Los Angeles Rams | Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. | (KTVD-20) |
It should be noted, of course, that this updated schedule is also subject to change. The NFLPA has argued that there should be no preseason games this summer. It remains to be seen how the league will handle the NFLPA’s suggestion.
As of now, the NFL is still planning to have the regular season proceed as scheduled. The Broncos will host the Tennessee Titans on ESPN in Week 1 on Sept. 14 (view Denver’s complete schedule here).
