During a Friday press conference, Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders rather bluntly described what he feels is driving the recent flurry of conference realignments in college sports.
Via ESPN, Sanders discussed Colorado’s recently announced move from the Pac-12 to the Big 12 and the trend of college teams leaving one conference to join another.
Just Friday, Oregon and Washington reportedly began the process of moving from the Big 12 to the Big 10.

To Sanders, Colorado’s focus is just on whomever they’re happening to play. He feels the recent conference realignments are based on one thing and one thing only: money.
“I don’t care about [any] different teams moving. We’re trying to win, man. I don’t care where we play. I don’t care what conference, who we’re playing against. We’re trying to win,” Sanders said at the presser on Friday. “All this is about money, you know that. It’s about a bag; everybody’s chasing a bag, and then you get mad at the players when they chase it. How is that? How do the grown ups get mad at the players when [they’re] chasing it when the colleges are chasing it?”
Sanders has earned plenty of attention after he recently took the helm for Colorado football, and his words are certain to garner plenty of ears as conference realignments continue to drastically reshape the college sports landscape.
